As a professor of English in a small east coast college, I am constantly searching out alternative material to teach to my advanced classes. It is very difficult, dare I say impossible, to find fresh and original text in which to help modernize the reading power of antiquated iambic pentameter. Enter Kirk Wood Bromley. His plays, with their powerful and stunning poetry, have reinvented my student's interest in verse and prose. Often the class, while reading him, explode in discussion, animated argumentation, and outright vocal pleasure. It has made my job alot easier, and my students eager. When students get ahold of text like this, it opens their minds and hearts, prompting them to return to Shakespeare, even attempting to write themselves. Bromley's work is a must for high school and college classes involving english, drama, and writing intineraries.

When rumors started circulating throughout the Entertainment Business that Cheri Woods was writing her tell all book Death Row Madam, I can't tell you how many high profile people I encountered that were shaking in their boots with their concerns of being exposed as having been a former client of the famous Cheri Woods with fears that all their bizarre behavioral patterns involving kinky sex and drugs would come back to haunt them. When Cheri Woods the biggest Madam in the history of the business started to make appearances on Geraldo, Inside Edition, Hard Copy, The Joan Rivers Show and every other major News Program/Talk Shows naming names, the high profile men I know were fit to be tied. Panic spread like wild fire in Hollywood, New York and Washington D.C. because Cheri Woods was revealing all the kinky sex and drug secrets of the rich and famous on national television with holding nothing back that was not only truthful, but shocking to say the least. I have lady friends who have divorced their husbands since the release of DEATH ROW MADAM, as their husbands were regular clients. I have read Death Row Madam and know of the lifestyles of many that she wrote about to be true. This book gives a factual full account of what famous & high profile people want you to know nothing about concerning what really goes on behind their closed doors! This interesting read also get's into the corruption of Public Officials as to the Justice System and the Los Angeles Police Department of which there has been quite the history of misconducts to frame people for crimes they never committed as seen on national television of which Cheri Woods fell victim to like so many other innocent people who served time in prison as a result of fabricated reports by Public Officials all for capital gain to defraud tax payer's of state and federal funding by prosecuting bogus cases. There are great pictures in Death Row Madam of Cheri Woods with so many celebrities. Death Row Madam is indeed credible and an adventurous journey deplicting how this young lady Cheri Woods came from Minnesota with stars in her eyes and unexpectedly became the biggest Madam in Hollywood serving clients world-wide which eventually landed her in prison on death row with the Manson clan. Now, Cheri Woods is a free woman and she is obviously expressing her freedom of speech through her release of Death Row Madam. Cheri Woods has survived to tell her interesting story. In her book she list's a web site where you can contact her directly of which she freely responds to questions and there are other services offered that may be of interest to many. Death Row Madam is a must read for enquiring minds that are into scandal, controversies and the secrets of the famous!

This book covers many aspects of wood finishing from painting to polishing technics. The projects dealt with and the photographs are all first rate. Highly recommended.

When I wanted to learn how to woodcarve, I checked this book out from the library and found it so helpful that I bought it. It guides the beginner through all of the necessary skills, like picking out tools and wood, sharpening tools, the basic cuts, etc., then it goes on to show how to do a woodcarving, using detailed instructions and very helpful diagrams and pictures. Other books that I looked at recommended buying large expensive materials (such as an electric grindstone and a full workbench) but this book starts you off with just the bare essentials and allows you to work up at your own pace.

I am the author of DECORATIVE WOODCARVING THE COMPLETE COURSE. This book is unique as it describes the real life experiences of a group of my students during their learning process. It encompasses the things that went wrong, how they should have been, why, and how they were corrected. It is a description of the reality of the learning curve for decorative woodcarving, about real people who started with no knowledge or skill and ended with a considerable degree of both. If you follow the text and illustrations, you too can enjoy these new horizons. We start with the background essentials of tool sharpening, drawing, modeling, and wood, and then move through a series of carvings each of which adds new skills and knowledge to complete the learning process.

Highly recommended if you have any interest in the timber industry's history. Book includes commentary on the results of some poor management practices and the attempts to farm clear-cuts. A good history of logging and the lessons learned. Lots of interesting characters and stories, as well. Obviously a well researched book.

An outstanding book that must be read

This is an excellent expansion to the role playing system MERP. First of all it takes place in Mirk Wood which I believe is one of the most memorable places in middle earth. Even people who are not the biggest tolkien fans have heard of the place. Also the book has adventures that progressivly get harder so you could the same party strait through the whole book. Finally I think that the adventures truely are chalenging for the number of PCs that it says should tackle the adventures. I can not think of anything bad within the book, and that is also why it gets 5 stars.

This little book should be required reading for everyone who works with kids who have serious behavior problems. Winnicott was a pediatrician and psychoanalyst who had many years of close, intimate contact with families, especially families of troubled children. He makes a convincing case that children who steal, lie, destroy property, assault others, etc. are attempting to compensate for early separation/loss of an important caregiver. He views such behaviors as attempts to coerce the environment into taking notice and "containing" the child. As such, these behaviors are "hopeful", and are viewed as the child's efforts to reclaim the satisfactions that were lost -- to take back what once was theirs. Children who had adequate care that was lost are the children Winnicott suggests become anti-social. There are numerous vignettes of his personal experiences in trying to treat delinquent kids. He makes a compelling argument for early loss as a decisive factor in later delinquent acts. Although he ultimately felt that "treatment" was only possible after an extended period of "containment", he maintained his conviction that these kids have sustained losses too dreadful for them to think about. He was a good-humored and compassionate clinician with an enduring belief in the profound importance of the child's early relationships. People who work with delinquent kids may just find that Winnicott's understanding of children helps them hang on when the going gets tough. I treasure this book. Another great Winnicott book is "Therapeutic Consultations in Child Psychiatry", an out-of-print classic.

This book is the best reference I've seen for NDS wood design. I found it very useful when I was first learning wood design. It gives a good discussion of most aspects of wood design. The latest edition even covers aspects of the newer industry trends (flexible diaphragm analysis and engineered wood products).
